Amerie is a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, producer, and writer of fiction. The daughter of a Korean artist and an African-American military officer, Amerie was born in Massachusetts, raised all over the world, and graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s in English. She is the editor of New York Times bestseller Because You Love to Hate Me (Junior Library Guild Selection 2017), and recently founded Amerie’s Book Club, a modern, social media-rooted book club that highlights diverse and unique perspectives and voices. Amerie released Drive in May 2016, which was hailed by Rolling Stone as one of 2016’s best R&B albums. In October 2018, she released two surprise albums, 4AM Mulholland and After 4AM, both of which have been praised for their postmodern hip-hop/R&B innovation.
